Bathrooms

Walls and skirting boards

AC vents and light fixtures

Above eye level, therefore easy to forget, therefore exactly where dust piles up the most and exactly what an inspector looks up and notices within about five seconds of walking in.

Windows and tracks

Not just the glass — the tracks. Once furniture is gone and light pours in, window tracks full of sand and dust become extremely visible, in a way they never were while you were living there and not really looking.

Floors, corners, and behind furniture

This is the big one. Once the furniture leaves, years of hidden dust and marks become fully visible for the first time — sometimes to your own genuine surprise. Corners and anywhere furniture sat permanently need real attention here.

Can you do this yourself?

Marble is the showpiece of a lot of Dubai villas — the floor that makes an entryway feel like an entryway. It's also, quietly, one of the easiest surfaces in your entire home to damage without realizing it, usually by people trying their best to clean it properly.

It's more porous than it looks

This is the part that surprises most people: marble is a natural stone, and it absorbs liquid more than it appears to. Spilled juice, cooking oil, or even water left sitting too long can leave a mark below the surface — not something that wipes away, but actual discoloration inside the stone itself. It doesn't look dramatic in the moment. It just quietly stays.

The real enemy is sitting in your cleaning cupboard right now

Here's the twist nobody warns you about: a lot of the products marketed as "all-purpose" or even "natural" — vinegar, lemon-based sprays, plenty of generic multi-surface cleaners — are acidic. And acid is exactly what damages marble. This causes something called etching: a dull, slightly rough patch where the polished surface has been chemically worn down. For everyday upkeep, dry dusting followed by a damp — not wet — mop keeps most marble floors looking close to day-one condition without much effort at all.

How often marble actually needs real attention

Beyond daily upkeep, marble floors generally benefit from a proper deep clean and inspection every few months — especially high-traffic zones like entrances and main living areas, where dust and grit act like fine sandpaper underfoot every single day, slowly dulling the surface in a way you won't notice until it's already happened.

It started with the same frustration everyone has

"Family business" here means something slightly inconvenient — for us

For a lot of companies, "family-run" is a nice line on the website and nothing more. Here, it means the people who own Turaas are actually involved — in who joins the team, how each job is trained and checked, and yes, occasionally in personally answering the phone when something isn't right. It's less scalable than having a call center. It's also the entire point.

If something goes wrong on a job, it's not routed through three layers of support tickets before anyone senior even hears about it. It's usually a direct conversation, often with one of us. Slower to build, apparently. Better to actually run.
